A low-yielding vintage at Laurel Bank gives us a generous wine of dense colour. The nose is spicy and aromatic; there are hints of plum and black cherry. The initial palate impact is quite savoury; forest/beetroot and black tea, before black fruit flavours chime in. Tannin structure is firm and is in balance with the generous depth of fruit flavour. Long finish with a final savoury echo of absinthe-like characters. A delightful wine now but with great potential for long term cellaring.
